Honest question...why do people with mobility choose to stay in places where things like car break ins are common?

So, you are one to change your lifestyle due to criminal behavior by kids roaming through a neighborhood????

Car break-ins are common all over the N.O. area and they are not confined to any specific socio-economic sector.

Selling my house and uprooting my family over a broken car window seems just a little irrational

But shooting the guy and risking prison time is more rational?

I honestly don’t understand why everybody just doesn’t leave their doors unlocked and leave valuables outside of the vehicle

Sure, leave some change in the ashtray

That way they won’t damage the vehicle. GT busting out the window

You give them maybe $5-$10 in change and they will respect your vehicle

If it gets stolen then that’s what you pay you insurance to handle

The crack and meth heads appreciate when you give them change and actually respect your vehicle much better when you leave them a few coins with the door unlocked.

The world is getting smaller pal. We have the internet now. It lets us know when crime is committed in our neighborhoods.

This. Morons leave their guns in plain sight is basically a glass case then wonder why it was stolen.

Some are missing the point. We are paying property taxes in order that the police will protect.Obviously the police are laying down on their job. Complain to your city council member. Organize a nightly armed neighborhood patrol. This should get someone's attention.

RIGHT! It's the victim's fault.

Stupid jackasses like you are why society is in the shape it is in.

You are dead on about this being a problem caused by stupid people. How long have you been in the club? I'm betting you're a Legacy Member.

Honest question. Where the frick are you going to move to where there aren't break ins?

The country. Dogs and guns.

When I was married my now ex wife went out to my truck one night. I heard her holler and ran outside with my 12 gauge. There was a truck slowly coming up the road and a guy running from my truck to this vehicle. I’d have shot but he had his back to me and there were houses across the road.

Police caught them about 5 minutes later and we had to drive by the scene to identify the vehicle.

They were breaking in cars in our neighborhood stealing stuff to pawn for drugs. One was a drug dealer the other was a parolee from Angola.

After that night no one in our neighborhood ever had problems with car break ins.

We couldn’t have a fence in the front or side of our house (carport side of house) or outside dog pens in our neighborhood.

Unfortunately you will probably go to prison if you shoot someone breaking into your vehicle

If you're a dumbass with cameras all over your house to convict you.

Cops been doing it for a century. It's called a throwaway.

Castle domain. Your vehicle is an extension of your house. Just gotta day you feared for your life and you thought they had a weapon.

If they turn to walk away or run you can’t because how can just justify self defense if you shoot them in the back. You can’t.

The fact that y’all think it’s acceptable and encourage killing people over property says a lot about you

And it’s not positive.

Thieves deserve to be shot. I'm just upset that the damn laws get in the way of it

I don't consider thieving animals who are stealing what I worked for to be fellow human beings.

Thieves are scum, not people.

Then rely on the prosecutor to not charge you. And if he does, then rely on the jury not to find you guilty. Too risky for me.

Wouldn't you go to jail if you shot someone breaking into your car? I understand protecting property. But there is no threat to your life. I don't think I could randomly blast down my driveway

Yes. The criminals have more rights than you. In court, their bad actions, that caused the whole getting killed thing, would not even be a consideration.
