Netting on tandems, fix ordinance to allow less tandems, walkers to serve as security are all easy and doable solutions. People in power need to implement them TODAY in order to avoid the city’s heavy hand solution which probably would be universally hated.

I went to Iris yesterday and every single tandem could’ve been a single.
I agree that most tandems can be split with no issue if the city relaxes the number of "pull units" they allow. You have to admit that there are some like The Bacchusgator and the Orpheus Train that could suffer greatly if you had a tractor in between each of the segments. We'll see this afternoon how the gator looks and especially tomorrow how the train looks.

x ordinance to allow less tandems
Why do you keep rolling in things like this casually

The Captains of the major parades really should come together with some fixes before the city jumps to some bad fix like fencing in the whole
Why is this a bad fix????

Krewes have DEFINITELY taken advantage of this loophole that was probably originally designed for the floats you mentioned in Endymion and Bacchus. The city obviously wants less parades for manpower issues so they just turned a blind eye to the exploitation of the loophole bc it meant krewe consolidation. Walkers plus netting can certainly help with tandems but let’s be honest the only reason there are so many is bc it limits the # of floats allowed to roll so they can have more riders.
My whole point in this is that Parade Captains need to come together to “fix” this before the city does.

It is not. It is the BEST FIX. If I was Ed Muniz or the Captain of Bacchus then I would be in Latoya’s office this morning with proposals.

The best solution is to barricade the whole route, not something that can be done today but for next year.
There is absolutely no reason that someone needs to be close enough to a float that if they fall or get pushed that they can end up under a float.
The riders can throw the beads to you, dont need to be there begging for them
