Attorneys for Hertz Lake Charles One LLC explained the company has been battling insurance for payment. The attorney said they filed suit at the end of 2020.

“We had a policy that provided up to $500 million in repair costs for that building, and we have not received our replacement costs,” Hertz’s attorney said.

She continued, saying a judgement was made against the insurer to pay for replacement of the building, but they have yet to receive anything. The company is set to go back to court on October 11.

“There is a person there,” their attorney said. “There is lights. We are going to rebuild, we have contracts to rebuild, we just need the money from our insurance company.”

Also Inn on the Bayou/Motel 6 and The Landing Restaurant will finally de demolished next week.

That's a solid piece of waterfront property in a hot area. Hope they do something nice with it

So they are going to take the insurance and run while selling the property for pennies and waiting a decade for someone to tear it down.

It is named after Charles Sallier. The Sallier family is still pretty known in LC

quote:

The town was first incorporated in 1857 as Charleston, after an early settler, Charles Sallier. Ten years later, on March 16, 1867, Charleston was reincorporated as the City of Lake Charles

They already deemed a two-week festival Lake Charles used to have called "Contraband Days" racist and insensitive so they renamed it Louisiana Pirate Festival and shortened it to a 3 day weekend.

That Inn on the Bayou and the Landing could be a really hot place for a nice hotel and restaurant. Hope they can make something of it. It’s really needed to be torn down for a long time. Laura just provided the avenue for it.

I'd bet anything the company that owns it will build an ugly hotel there like all the other ugly hotels that popped up around there.

That piece on Contaband has been full of potential with zero fulfillment for over 30 years. I've never understood it.

Back in the day, as a member of YMBC, who put on Contraband Days, one could drink for free in bars around town during Contraband Days, two weekends and the weekdays between.

The only time I ever ran in an event was the Contraband 5 miler. I ran a 59:55 and passed two experienced marathoners before I hit the finish line. There was a heat inversion that day and it crushed those not from the Gulf Coast.

I don't think that it was ever leased out to anything near capacity. I don't think that it had to be financed to begin with Calcasieu Marine was one of the most stable banks in America, flush with plenty of cash, when this was built

Is Parnell’s Dockside coming back after a 25+ year hiatus? And why would anyone intentionally rebrand as a Motel 6 (inn on the bayou sounds much better)?

CM Tower (cap one tower) will never be rebuilt.
