What Teddy said. There are way better rewards cards than the Capital One lineup. Getting a credit card from a bank because you happen to bank there is a silly reason.

I figured it makes it more convenient to pay the balance

Venture is what I have and am pleased with it

I have a Capital One Quicksilver card. No annual fee and 1.5% cash back on everything. I usually just redeem the cash back for a credit on my billing statement.
ETA: But my primary card is Citi Double Cash. No annual fee and 1% cash back right away and 1% extra when you pay it off. And use Amex Blue Cash for certain categories (gas-3%, grocery store-6%, and certain dept stores 6%)

As long as you have a decent spending level and no late payments etc. you can call in each year and talk them into crediting you the annual fee on the Venture.

Every card from Chase, Citi, etc. has an online payment feature. On my Citi cards I get instant credit for payments. Pay $8k and the $8k in credit is immediately available.
