It's our fb pictures chief. Who cares? U gon' b ok. I promise. Anyone who had to handle their business in a 115 degree jackshack deserves to change their picture on their social media site of choice just as much as you do.

Yup. The ones I posted today seemed to be in another life and planet. Those still alive in the pics also feel that way. It's not to say 'hey look at me'. I do that with all the other random stupid shite I 'like' or 'post' on the rare occasions I still log on.
It's because sometime between those old pictures and now we lost our youth. Somewhere along that same journey we lost our collective innocence. There were times we got to experience and see amazing things and places and there were also things we experienced we wouldn't wish upon anyone else. Yet, for some reason, I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world, though I often wish I could temporarily forget a few of them..

In the words of oliver wendell holmes,
'In our youth our hearts were touched with fire.'

And to quote another comrade a century later,
'We were Soldiers once... And young.'



Sorry this is a rough time of year for me for several reasons. It doesn't get easier as time marches on

Are they vets if they never did anything in war time? It's disrespectful to put 4 year in and out of service guys in the same category with war vets? We praise then for having a job and going to school for free?
