Because he failed on a snatch attempt and landed on a stack of plates behind him. Yea, blame crossfit. You dumb brah.

First thing that came to mind. I forgot that he was the only person ever hurt in the history of crossfit.

Yes I saw the story. And no I don't know the guy.

I'm certain more ppl have been paralyzed playing football than doing Crossfit. Where's the negative criticism of football?

I did google, but I couldn't find an accurate concise answer.

I know a little about it and that they do alternative forms of lifting, but why? Where did these techniques come from? What makes them a better work out?

I do both traditional and crossfit workouts. Have I seen idiot crossfitters? Yep. Idiot crossfit coaches? Yep.

Alas, I've been doing this a looooong time and long before I ever even heard of crossfit, one of my favorite amusements has been watching idiots in the gym doing bad deadlifts, 3 inch squats, bowed back bent rows, swinging curls etc etc etc.

Crossfit has no corner on people that do stupid shite in the name of their workout.

I just find it entertaining to make fun of it. I mean this thread is hilarious.

In all honesty I have nothing against crossfit. Do your thing.

Sensible and accurate post. The circuit traing is great. The problems start to occur when regular people with very little gym time are asked to performance exercises without proper form, training, and too much weight.

You've been here for 1.5 years and you've never seen a cross fit thread

I've seen then, but the've either just been about someone getting injured, making fun of it, or these crazy gifs. Why is that guy lifting the barbell with his legs? Why not just do squats or legs presses?

What is a normal crossfit workout not one that someone is performing incorrectly?

Apparently you do. It's the most popular sport in the US. Tens of millions of ppl go to games every year. 100s of million watch it. Parents sign up their kids to play it in fricking kindergarten.

I've crossfitted for almost 2 years now and would consider myself an advanced athlete in the sport.

CrossFit can be a great program as well as an awful program. It's really all about the gym you're at and the trainer you have. I've spent significant time at 5-6 different gyms, and it's really important you find someone who knows what they're doing. The haters are right, it's way too easy to become a certified trainer, which causes a surplus of awful coaches. But find a good one, and CrossFit becomes an amazing fitness regimen.

And it also really is a cult. I'd say about half the people who do it are completely obsessed with it. There are also some snobs who do it and look down on all other workout regimens as inadequate.

Ok? All of that has nothing to do with people understanding how dangerous it is.

Nice attempt to move the goalposts.

Please present the stats that confirm 10s of millions went to the games and 100s of millions watched. As far as the claim that it's the most popular sport in the country, don't even try to defend that.

Are you confused? He meant football. Football, by far, is the most popular sport in the country.
