I recieved this from my State Farm representative in the mail today. No phone calls or emails just this letter. Anyone else received this? I don't claim to be the smartest person out there but what does this mean? It's a money grab, right?

Handwritten amounts? No logo header? Weird. Scam maybe?

It came from our agent. I have deleted the signature off the picture. Should have clarified that. But yeah, no header

It came from your agent. He customized it to your cost to add the endorsement.

That endorsement will pay to replace the undamaged portion of the roof so that everything matches instead of just having a repair that’s a different color.

It’s not a scam.

State Farm system is antiquated and ghetto

But if you have roof damage to only an extent that requires partial fixing not total replacement this endorsement supposedly would provide 10% of coverage a for this.

But they are saying your damage MUST EXCEED YOUR DEDUCTIBLE. That’s a big line item.

Get with your agent first a better explanation, but from what I’ve heard, State Farm is offering a new endorsement where they will not argue about repairing versus replacing the entire roof. Any damage and you get a new roof. I am sure there is some fine print, including the current age of the roof. They are also only offering this at renewal.

Again talk to your agent as I am not an agent nor a customer of theirs.

So don’t pay it. And no, no insurance company covers the undamaged portion of the roof. Don’t ask a question and then reject the damn answer.

Yea but this is tricky cause it’s a coverage that is for replacing undamaged parts of roof system. A % wind deductible will be high. So if you are exceeding that then it’s likely needing a full replacement anyways.

It’s a form letter. They are supposed to type that part in

Call your agent and ask them about it. They will explain what it’s about. It’s literally why you have an agent.

Not a scam.

My State Farm people called to tell me about it a few weeks ago.

I asked for a better explanation than the one they offered and he got pissed off.

No idea what you aren’t understanding.

Someone can have 40% damage to a roof. Have 19k in roof damage of a 20k deductible. Not meet your deductible and this endorsement won’t pay for jack shite cause they were $1000 under their deductible obligation.kind of shitty

I'm going to call them on Monday. Just seemed kind of lazy. The top, which I blocked out, just had my first name handwritten then a handwritten dollar amount.

The entire letter was written by a 4 year old apparently

Bottom paragraph, “about this endorsement about this endorsement”

Even Microsoft word tells you it’s wrong.

If you think insurance companies should replace entire roofs, even if undamaged, you should never bitch about the cost of insurance.

Insurance isn’t a maintenance plan for you to get a free roof every time the wind blows
