I am not anti education, but I am anti educator in many circumstances.

My wife was a special ed teacher. One of her students was integrated into the regular classroom where he really did not have a clue. She had to confront a teacher that was adamant that the student was "going to do her work". Sadly, I do not believe this is a isolated situation. I think many teachers become too focused on making themselves feel important and less concerned about the students actual learning.
It's fricked up when we tell "Regular ed" teachers they have to teach "Sp Ed" kids when they're not certified/trained to do so but that's a system problem, not teacher.
That said, as rediculous as it sounds, I've seen some Sp Ed kids have a lot of success in a regular ed classroom. So what gives? Don't ask me. It's something hard about measuring teacher effectiveness when we don't have a consistent product at the end of an assembly line.

Now it's just uninformed. And sad.

You and your wife have failed to grasp the fact that special ed or not, they all have to pass the same state tests in the end. I hope your wife ultimately apologized to the teacher for her ignorance.

document the shitout of it though
This. Be able to prove that kids got the lower grade. I've had this issue as well.
So, in a word, yes.

no need to apologize for the ignorance of others, this I will not apologize for yours.
this kid will never pass any test. it was not about the kid learning but making the teacher feel important.

I went into teaching a few years ago to help out with Louisiana's struggling school system.
Sure you did. What did you do before?

I thought the teachers in the D/F schools worked harder and were better than teachers in the B school.

What is your agenda?
