Why are we so obsessed with lengthy prison terms?
We should be focused on prison terms that aren't long enough. This moron fractured his one year old son's skull. He should NEVER leave prison. The Subway guy? Gets between 5 and 12 years? Why should he EVER get out of prison? We need longer terms.

I would have been happy if they just took him out back and put a bullet in his head.

Because when someone fractures their 1 yr old's son's skull and break his jaw, they should rot their sorry arse in prison for the rest of their days... or at least longer than 36 fricking months.
he got 18 with 10 suspended, so he's got 8 years in DOC (backing up 10 if he violates his probation upon release)
pretty sure this is a crime of violence, so with "good time" he will serve 6.8 years or so

No we don't. We need to start hanging these motherfrickers from the street lights

both examples involve psychological issues that if treated, would solve the problem and eliminate victims
the mentality of seeing crime as requiring an opposing force of punishment only offers a bit of deterrence but otherwise is a useless. overall it's a net negative, especially when you consider what prison (and just the mark of a felony) does to economic usefulness

OK. I read it to mean he got a total of 18 yrs, with 10 suspended and 5 yrs on supervised probation, giving him 3 yrs behind bars. Either way, even 8 years is not long enough for someone that would do this to a baby. In an ideal world, he'd be either put up against a wall or hung. I'd settle for life in prison with hard labor.

He won't be welcomed as a hero in prison.

no no no
his sentence is 18 years
10 is suspended, so he serves 8
once released, he will be on supervised probation for 5 years. if he violates, he does the 10 he's backing up

VOLTA is what is tatted on his head.....it was the name of his pit bull

I agree - kill the mf'er. The forehead tattoo alone is enough for me to send him out to sea forever, but cracking a kids skull - nope, kill em...slowly.

He's a nut. No amount of prison time is gonna change that.

Yeah, I gotcha. I see that now. It's still not enough for what he's done. This piece of shite deserves to die.
