quote:

"It was hard to digest," Alfred Beverly said. "I had de-committed from another school to play for them and that's where I was set on playing. Having that taken away from me was just hard."
Sitting in his kitchen with his mother crying softly in the background, Beverly felt betrayed by a program that had begun courting him as an underclassmen.

quote:

ULL's treatment of Beverly might have irreversibly ended ties with Beaumont's largest high school, which will send 13 players to the college ranks next year. After realignment takes effect in the fall, West Brook will be the area's only Class 6A school.

quote:

"I told their athletic director that, as far as I'm concerned, ULL can skip right on by West Brook," Flanigan said. "I don't want to see them and they better not come to my office."

I like that in the story he talks about how he was previously committed to La Tech and then committed to us and then now he's mad at the Cajuns for not honoring their commitment to him

It sucks that kids miss out on scholarships but kids screw over teams all the time.

No doubt, but you would think when a HS churns out 10 D1 commits you would hold serve if you need him or not. Just to get an in-road.

So it's ok for him to not honor his original commitment, yet ULL is the bad guy here for doing the same thing? I'm sorry, don't feel sorry for you kid.

Well, he had a month to get visits lined up after he was dropped and only got an FCS offer so it sounds like he probably wasn't quite FBS quality.

Does suck that they're mad at us now, though.

So it's only OK for HIM to decommit?

I agree the kid is to blame. Apparently LaTech had him and then he broke his commitment. The problem is that his HS is churning out D1 guys and by the article Hud danced around the coaches calls for an explanation. HS coaches talk and this could hurt the Cajuns in recruiting in the area which is a hot bed for talent beyond just this school.

No, I was just wondering if there was something bigger as this commit being dropped and Farmer and Hud avoiding calls looks like it will take a deep hit on their recruiting efforts.
