Not really sure unless it's a difference in the way states are dealing with it. In Georgia, educational faculty and staff have been prioritized to the 1B group. I have close contact with people all the time and we were considered essential enough to go back to the office four days a week on May 1st while many of our faculty have remained in hiding at home, teaching online.

I haven't seen the breakdown for Texas just yet, thought it was interesting they would put dentists in Tier II but you're right it is being handled on a state-by-state basis.

Well, herein lies the issue. Neither you, nor I, know the answer. You may THINK you do, but the average person has no clue. I cannot count the number of people I've seen spout off about the "99+%" survival rate for "healthy" people while themselves being VERY obviously unhealthy. Think about that minister of health in Finland and you'll get it. I can also tell you that you might be shocked by the number of people who go into my wife's office for the first time ever and discover they need to be on dialysis immediately (and likely should have been well before they got there). People live with conditions that they don't know they have for years and years, putting off regular doctor visits for one reason or another routinely. If you're over 30, you likely have at least one pre-existing condition.

No, nothing to do with that, just don’t get it.
And haven’t gotten the flu

That's reasonable enough. And good for you. I've had it twice in my life and it sucked both times. One of my kids had two strains a couple of years ago and had they not had the vaccine, it could have been a much rougher go.

Cool, still not being forced to get it

Yes, that is certainly odd. They should be Tier 1. I will say, I've seen here where a number of dentists have been pretty lackadaisical about precautions in their office, so I'm not sure what their uptake will be like. They're a strange bunch.

He was 100% for getting the vaccine and recommended to everyone in his office to get it.

I think that's good to hear.

Yeah, I took my son to ours last week and based on what I observed, I'm switching. They could at least act like they're trying and I would understand, but it's business as usual up in there. I've made it a point to schedule all of my appointments for first thing in the morning so we're not following in behind other people, especially true at the dentist. Aside from just not really doing anything differently, I noticed a penny on the floor under the chair that was covered in dust and grime, likely stuck to the floor. That told me that cleaning procedures between patients and after hours can't possibly be that great (and it's a very nice, clean, two-year old facility in a very affluent county). Was just not what I expected from someone in the medical field during all of this.

You are making an argument that doesn't exist. No one is forcing you to take it. That's literally never been put on the table.

Seemed facetious, but if you're serious, I digress. I appreciate it. It was a couple of years ago (my last bout was in 2008) and all are well.

I heard it was
Saw articles where venues were making you show a vaccine card etc

No, you won't see that on any large scale. Private venues, concert halls, sporting complexes.....I mean, they COULD, but I honestly doubt you would see that because there are tremendous numbers of skeptical people out there like yourself and it would tank those industries. Think about it this way....how well are any private companies with mask requirements posted at their doors currently enforcing masks in their stores? It's their rule, their policy. But you don't see many who will say a word to unmasked people waltzing in. This will be no different.

I appreciate your skepticism. It's not an inherently bad thing. I was in your corner just a few months ago until I read up on things and the actual testing process that these have gone through. It has been far more robust than I first imagined that it could be. And after speaking to a few people who have been in the Moderna trials, I'm pretty much sold. I'm frankly a little excited at what the future of medicine has in store based on what we've seen this year.

That isnt forcing you to take it....

Just like you have told people "If you are scared to go to restaurants or bars, dont go. Shouldnt prevent us"

They will tell you "if you are scared of the vaccine, dont take it but you cant come here"

I see nothing wrong with that

Again, they are a private entity. If they want to require it, they certainly can. That isn't forcing you to get it. I'm still skeptical as to how long they find that to be a fruitful stance to take, but I wouldn't think it would be an issue of any kind in a couple of years regardless.
