I would rather burn out and pass quickly at this point than linger on for years.

I wish the man Godspeed.

My mother is 84. She's a former smoker, has had several TIAs and has epilepsy. She was driving up until last summer. She still takes care of light housework but doesn't cook much any more and I've taken over her checkbook. She has intermittent episodes of confusion, usually brought on by stressors. For instance when my father had covid it sent her into a tailspin for several days. It doesn't have to be major-the dog getting loose for a little while triggered an episode. It doesn't even have to be negative. The commotion of a visit from her grandchildren can be overwhelming. She has a benzo prescription and in a few hours to a day or so she's usually alright.

It's very distressing to see her that way. I can't help thinking the years of smoking have contributed..

OTOH my dad is 87 and still works nearly full time.

My wife was diagnosed 2 years ago. I can see it advancing, but people not around her every day don’t really notice. We know whats coming. Living it up while we can!

I am very sorry to hear that man - i myself fully expect to have it - my grandmother had Alzheimer's and died from it, and my uncle has dementia as well.

my dad has TIA's all the time, but seems to bounce back from them - but there really isn't much anyone can do at this point.

can only make the best of the time we have left.

My guess is that he had underlying dementia, and then contracted Covid.

In my experience Covid absolutely destroys what’s left of the brains of people with dementia.

I'd rather have a swift death than dementia or Alzheimer's

Bruce gave movie goers a lot of good stuff to enjoy. One of my favorites.

For instance..I went by at noon. She was washing clothes, seemed in pretty good spirits and knew the yard man's phone number from memory. Tonight I stop by again. Still in good mood but thinks one of the wheel of fortune contestants is a relative.
