BRPD Corporal Derrick Maglone released from hospital

Modern medicine is incredible. Early reports were that both had died, then Maglone was barely hanging on in the ICU, then less than two weeks later he is released and clearly recovering well.

I'm not 100% privvy to the details but I do believe it was more than just a graze wound. To my knowledge, part of his skull is still removed.

Cpl. Derrick Maglone represents the best of what it means to be a Baton Rouge Police Officer.
Despite losing his immediate boss, Lieutenant Glenn Hutto, and nearly dying on the table at the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital a week ago, Cpl. Derrick Maglone is already talking about getting back to his squad and continuing to serve the people of Baton Rouge.
There are hundreds just like Cpl. Derrick Maglone within the ranks of the Baton Rouge Police Department. In the future, if anyone wants to stereotype the mindset of all cops or the entire Baton Rouge Police Department, please remember Cpl. Derrick Maglone, the sacrifices he made, and the commitment he still has to serve the citizens of Baton Rouge.
