Is there anything BRCG runs that is worth a damn? CATS, BREC, EBR school system? They're all fricked up!!
Starting to understand the push for City of SG now.

I'm fuzzy on what would happen to Santa Maria if it offered memberships and went private/semi-private. I think Santa Maria is a great value for BR golf. But if that course raises fees, I probably won't play it much. Not to mention whenever I play I look for deals on greens fees anyway.

NOPE! All the examples are there for viewing. These are the things that make me angry when moving back to BR.

1700 for an annual 7 day 7 course pass
141 bucks a month for all you can play is a steal....so if they offered an exclusive card to play beaver or sm, i dont think i'd expect it to be much cheaper
You understand those plans don't include the cart right? It's $625 a year for the cart plan. So it's $2325 a year for that pass.

i really think brec is run solid compared to most other parts of the government
i'm sure there are other cities all around that have city/parish owned golf facilities that operate in the red considerably
BREC is getting a bad rep here though when its an epidemic
if BREC closes golf courses, they will find some other way to utilize the land, turn it into other parks, etc.
those other parks have maintenance costs also, with little to no revenue
so they will probably just drive BREC further into the red

yes, i understand
its still a steal at 200 bucks a month......not everyone rides anyway
a cart at BREC is 12 bucks typically, so I'd probably avoid the cart plan considering it would take 52 rounds of golf to recoup the cost
many private clubs offer membership and cart plans separately FWIW

The secret is that our courses are all privately owned and are generally built inside of neighborhoods big enough to support "their" course. That and it seems like everyone plays golf, I don't know of a single person who doesn't at least have a set of clubs.
So how does Florida do it? Seems like they have a golf course every couple of miles no matter what part of the state your in. An even better example myrtle beach? That city has more courses than neighborhoods it seems like.

I don't know how many high rollers or old dudes you know who have memberships at Santa Maria that just want to walk.

Hey don't mess with Clark. I like the driving range and it's the closest one to central.
And I suck. So course condition matters none

im not saying that many do, but the fact that the golf and cart is separate gives people the option
why do they have to be old or high rollers anyway?
you have to be a high roller to spend 1700 bucks a year for a golf membership?
the real high rollers are all in CCL or BRCC

Guys, I'm an outsider here, having only played Samta Maria, but 1 million dollars over 4 or 5 golf courses doesn't seem like a huge problem to fix...
A few dollars in revenue/round and find a few efficiencies in operations and boom... You're even,
How many rounds/yr are played on all of these courses combined? Got to be 200,000?

i agree
running 7 facilities on only a 1 million dollar deficit is pretty good for government

Right but I'm saying high rollers by BREC standards. Still paying $200 a month to be a member of a public course with no other benefits is sort of steep IMO.
