Jackson sentenced Eirick to five years in prison for negligent homicide and a concurrent 20 years for heroin distribution, but she suspended all but six years of the 20-year term and gave him credit for the 15 months he has been in jail since his arrest

Ok so he got 6 yrs no parole but he probably got good time credit which turns that 6 years into about 2. Then he got his 15 months credit for sitting in jail before the conviction. So yeah he would likely be released by now. But on parole, and facing a 20yr sentence if he fricks up.

I don't know, I think prison sentences should require reading the SEC rant

Typical heroin use begins with opiates abuse of the pharmaceutical variety. Pills are no longer as easy to obtain as they once were hence the spike heroin use and it's comeback.

Did he inject her against her will? Did he manufacture the heroin? Or was this some felony murder horseshite?

Judge likened it to Russian Roulette? How does that justify a murder/manslaughter charge?

What with America securing the poppy fields of Afghanistan and pain clinics popping up everywhere. Then pain clinics getting shut down you'd almost think that there was some kind of conspiracy.

Or the war on common sense.

Murder used to have an actual legal definition (intentional killing with malice aforethought). Now, it is practically an add on charge anytime someone dies, and usually applies identically to the deceased.
