So if you pay a guy to mow your lawn, do you technically never own your home?

If someone told you to pay 500 dollars to make 5000 dollars would you do it?

Tolls are going to have to be a major part of any bridge/loop financing.

Parcel fees? Those are interesting because the homestead exemption does not apply to them.

i think the voting no mentality is because of how the money is spent. 9 times out of 10 its wasted

and the biggest crock of shite in this whole process is people that dont own property voting on whether to add a property tax or not. if you live at el cid or section 8 or whatever, you dont get to vote on a property tax

But what would we call the new bridge if we got a new bridge?????

The Horace Wilkinson bridge? Or the I-10 Bridge?

Just kidding.

It would still be the new bridge.

The newer one would be the newer bridge or the loop bridge or the toll bridge.

I totally understand the frustration but the maximum charge is 500 dollars...

Also... would the voters in EACH of the 5 parishes have to seperately approve any taxes (i.e. 5 different votes)? Or will it simply be one vote with people in all 5 parishes voting?

By the time this is built... the current Old Bridge might have fallen in the water.

i dont give a shite if its $5.

the government never seems to have enough money

instead of trying to fix a budget, their solution is to tax the people more

The parcel fee (not subject to homestead exemption) would be the max $500.

A property tax wouldn't have a maximum.

And I would find it really REALLY hard to vote for any new property taxes.

ETA: And unless this board would have the power to acquire the right of way via eminent domain, then this is all worthless.

Saying you can never own something because there is a tax on it is silly to me. Thats like paying for electricity on an electronic you own.

You can own something and still have to pay for it.

thing that they dont understand is they the tax will get passed down to them via retn rates. But they are too stupid to realize that. Probably the main reason they live at El Cid.

If I don't cut my grass the government doesn't come seize my property. The yard guy doesn't get to raise the cost of my yard without me being able to decline his services.

You don't think rent includes money for property tax?

If prop tax goes up... rent goes up.

Now if you on sec 8... the feds might just cover the increase.
