get sick and poop/puke?

get ear infection and cry a lot?

1-2 is a super cute age, and they grow up so much

Yes but you are thinking like a logical person. Many times these POS parents have no coping skills or parenting skills whatsoever, that baby is just more money on that check each month. Baby cries and they shove a bottle in their mouth to make them shut up. Or they leave them in the care of others that have no business being left alone with children. They just hear the baby screaming and want it to stop. Add to it the person may be drunk or on drugs and baby screaming is messing up their buzz.

These stories always make my heart hurt. And I think about my little 15 month old niece and what a freaking joy and treat she is. I can't imagine anyone hurting a baby.

I think you're getting the two kids mixed up...the 2 y.o. from last night was the one with multiple fractures.

You are absolutely correct.

Strange how things like this only happen in the N. Baton Rouge area. Someone should do a study figure out why....

We get a lot of abuse cases at work. Many times they stay in the hospital until DCS(formerly CPS) can find safe placement for them. You should hear the stories the parents or families will give us as to why the child got hurt. Certain injuries and types of fractures are just not possible because the child "tripped" or other kids were "playing rough with them". Things like shaken baby syndrome are called that for a reason. It can get difficult to bite your tongue and not say anything to their face when you know a mom is lying to you and likely covering up for someone else(usually a bf) abusing her child.

I've got some good friends who are involved in a child abuse support organization. Basically they "adopt" abused kids to make them feel safe again. They'll go visit the child and basically let hem know that they're now one of them and they'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Some of the stories they've told me about what some of the kids they work with have been through just broke my heart. How anyone can hurt a kid is beyond me.

I had a 4 year old little girl that was in the hospital by herself accidentally spill her juice all over herself and the bed. When myself and the nursing assistant came into the room to help get her cleaned up she started crying begging us not to beat her because she made a mess. I wanted to cry right then and there hearing that poor girl say that to us.

Really tragic story, yet again. kids are so innocent and suffer the most way too often

That poor baby. I can only imagine what she's been through. Poor little girl needs someone to hold her, wipe away her tears, and let her know that nobody is ever going to hurt her again.

ETA: There are organizations out there who can help her. Did y'all contact CPS on this matter?

I can't even think of a reason to raise my voice at my little 1 year old girl, much less hit her. People are evil, plain and simple.
