Boy shot in Bastrop; police looking for suspect

BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A boy is recovering from a gunshot wound in Bastrop that happened over the weekend.

"All I heard was pop, pop, pop, kids running everywhere, people running everywhere," says Elegy Murry, who lives down the street from where it happened.

Just before eight on Sunday night, Bastrop Police say they got a call that a person had been shot near Martin Luther King park in the area of Forrest Avenue and Huey Street.

"So, we asked what's going on, but nobody knew, they brought the little boy over here. He was in the car, little red mustang, they shot him in the side I think," says Murry.

The Westfest was going at the park at the time, which is where Willie Jones' children were when he heard gunshots.
