Dealership did the paperwork and I paid louisiana taxes. Am I suppose to do anything to get the registration and license plate?

You mean like register the car? Yeah. That would be a good idea. You seriously didn’t ask the dealership this question?
I just talked to someone the other day who told me they were “buying a car out of state to avoid LA taxes.” Where do you people come from?

No, this part is completely optional

Take it to one of those Notary/ License plate places....
Or just write “”license applied for” on a piece of cardboard and drive around with that for a while...

You just need to go to DMV to pay register it but be prepared for some sitting and waiting

Did you buy new or used from a new car dealership?
If so, most car dealerships handle this for you. Just call your sales person & ask.

Go to the DMV or one of those offsite places.

This.
And when the police officer pulls you over and asks you why you don’t have any registration or a license plate, just tell him you “have your best people on it”

You have to wait until the paperwork transfers in...then just go get your plates.

I bought new from a dealership. Just talked to a tag and title place and they told be the dealership will handle all of it being I paid them the tax title and registration fees.

If you paid the dealership, they should be handling the TT&L for you. It will probably take 30-60 days considering the circumstances. Call them if you are concerned.

Do you have a temp tag on the vehicle now?

Did the same thing back in November. Live in GA, bought at an AL dealership. They sent the GA TAVT tax $ and registration paperwork via Fedex to the Floyd County tag office within a week of purchase. I showed up to the tag office, spoke to a worker, she pulled up all the paperwork and I had my tag within 10 minutes.

I guess it depends on the dealership. The Chevy dealership I bought from in Texas handled everything from what I remember. I just had to pay a little when I went to pick up my plate.
