The violation of parole was that he was arrested for the "fake money". So he didn't actually violate his parole.

That being said, I bet there's more to this story. He may have been perfectly happy sitting in jail during the winter and getting three meals a day. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that his lawyer came to him telling him to sue.

WTF did that have to do with race? Probably had everything to do with smelling and looking homeless. That entire article was a race baiting disgrace.

They just fricking glossed over he was held that long due to a probation violation and awaiting a hearing. Dude should sue for the ordeal but suing on the basis of racial discrimination? Wtf

Dude, they held him 3 months for something that never happened. Its Taco Bell that held the responsibility of proving it was fake.

Wrong and wrong, you are 0-2

He was not given time for this, he had already recieved the time and the government decided to let him walk around a while, probation is a privilege.

Second it is not up to the merchant to determine is the money is fake or not.

This is an attempt at a settlement and a poor one at that.

Is that ordeal really worth $950,000?

Damn right. Three months of freedom is invaluable.

The only thing more important that not being wrongfully imprisoned.... is the right to not be wrongfully imprisoned.

The government says otherwise. The Feds give $50k/yr for someone wrongfully convicted. They'll give up to $100k/yr for someone wrongfully convicted and on death row.

It appears as if the reason he was held for three months was due to a probation violation, not for using the $10 bill. The bill appears to have been the catalyst.
