Boomers are defined by the music of the 60-70's

My 60's Spotify music page has about 200 songs with 60 artist's. Musicality and messages were great. They really define the age as inclusive, tolerant, loving, quirky, thoughtful.
For the last 20 years, I have a couple country songs only. The 2000-2020 period is more defined by in you face , crouch grabbing, shrieking, hateful rap. Half time Super Bowl shows are the standard.
Probably be a great thesis to examine the differences and propose metrics that relate music to social development .

the rant would be a good place to start

Although I agree, update me in 30 years when you can compare the complete development of Millennials.

I think most people listen to the music that was popular when they were about age 7-20'ish (give or take) the rest of their lives and don't identify much with later stuff.
90% of the music that I listen to is from the 80s/90s. The rest of it mostly older than that. I don't really listen to hardly anything made in the past 20 years.

Not sure if defined, but certainly proud!

Boomers are defined by the giant fricking mess they created

My dad is a boomer and loves Motown, Elvis,Beach Boys, Boogie Woogie piano, pre-hippie shite.
He doesn't GAF about anything after 1970.
There's a tweener generation between boomers and GenX that might be "defined" by 1970's music.

The Doobie Brothers (The Captain and Me)
The Top Gun soundtrack
Project Pat ( Mista don’t play album)
ETA: I’ll also throw in Rush 2112 when I’m feeling a little crazy

I think that's fairly common. The music you liked during your formative years appeals to you or takes you back to a place in time.
I like some music of the 60s and 70s too, probably from my parents listening to it when I was growing up.

People say this all the time and I ask what exactly they did to piss off millenials. I never get a straight answer. But I will keep asking, hoping that someday, maybe it will be explained.
From what I can tell, it's "they worked their asses off their whole life and made better lives for themselves and their children, and now they have nice houses and money and I'm a young entitled snot nosed brat and I am jealous that I don't have all those nice things".

Very Well Said.

I don’t need to ask why you think my comment is funny because it’s obvious you’re a child. Yes, I still buy CD’s and records. I have zero need for the technology of “streaming” if I can do it myself and own a hard copy

The Vietnam Radio playlist on Pandora is all around awesome rock. I am not a boomer.
60s and 70s music also sang a lot about drugs, banging runaway girls (loving, lol), and all sorts of stuff. Woodstock much? I'd rather AC/DC or Motorhead than "Puff the Magic Dragon" BS. What about Deep Purple is loving or thoughtful? The Who? How do you feel about Queen?
Don't overly romanticize music when you haven't listened to the spectrum of what was out there at the time. Just like I thought I hated country in the 70s and 80s because all I saw of it was those awful Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn ads on the rabbit ears, I had no idea there was any other kind of country.
