I'm thinking failure of the jackscrew system in the tail. And Alaskan Airlines flight went down the same way after the nut sheared off the screw mechanism and the plane took a nosedive the same way this one did. I think I remember the cause being that it was not regularly lubricated.
Just watched an episode of Air Disasters covering that event. Those pilots fought hard to save the aircraft

Flying into Vegas in June though about September sucks due to the heat thermals coming off of the mountains.
Yes it does

quite a few of those episodes that I've watched are inaccurate, some are close and some are ridiculously wrong

I’m flying to Tucson this coming Sunday. Just checked my flight info. From the B’ham to Atlanta leg we’re on a Delta 737-900

Sickening really that these fricks knew there were problems and covered them up so the stock price wouldn't fall. If a giant like Boeing is doing shady shite like that, then every airline in the world is subject to the same
I'm going to supplement this, some maintenance requirements placed on airlines/military are not really requirements...
Does the 500 hour need to be a 500 hour if the key inspection areas are hit with a more rigid post flight?
I know these things have been honed over time, and that's part of the "scare"...that they are cutting mx costs, when reality some of the mx requirements are to keep Boeing/others getting paid after the aircraft sale.
I know I'm walking a fine line, but it's just a reality.

I saw that Air Disasters episode. That was due to poor maintenance that was ignored for years and yes it was because they weren't greasing it.

A Vspeed of 30,000 FPM. Good God
No apparent smoke
Grainy iomage but plane seemd intact
Near straight 90degree dive without any turns
This could be a suicide

Rule #1 according to my buddy a senior A320 captain at jet blue is,"I won't fly on foreign airlines". I'd say that's great advice. U.S. commercial air travel still the greatest safety record in the world.

So how would the FAA (or the Chinese equivalent) piece this plane back together to figure out what happened? It doesn't seem like there is anything left.

Yeah...buncha hyperbole. I don't watch it much...
But the interviews are interesting. I did crash investigation for the Air Force and see some nonsense in most of it.

I'm going into a simulator today that is sitting right next to a 737 simulator, and a Max simulator at that!

Any guess why they seemed to gain some control and then lose it again?
