Sounds like y'all were being assholes. That was their consensus, and I don't have any reason not to believe them.

While you're teaching the kid some respect, perhaps you should learn some restaurant etiquette:

1. Read the menu, and if you tell the waiter you're ready to order, be ready to order and don't ask him to list your options when they're written clearly in front of you.

2. Don't give the kid a hard time for doing his job. He was likely told he had to ID everyone, and serving you alcohol without an ID would mean he was breaking the law. Don't put someone else in that situation or expect them to break the law on your behalf just because you feel entitled.

3. If you were speaking loudly enough for another table of guests to comprehend your words, then you're too loud. If you're using profanity on top of that, you should probably just go sit at a bar somewhere so you can act like an arse and nobody would care.

3. I don't believe it took 30 minutes for your food to come out, and I don't believe it came out cold. This doesn't really have anything to do with restaurant etiquette, I just think you're at least partially FOS, or at the very least have embellished your story.

That's a fair assessment, but the food was definitely cold, I tasted it. It's a shame because the tamales were good other than the fact that they were cold.

I commend owners and managers that don't mind standing up for the other customers and their workers from some unruly patrons making a scene being trashy as shitt

I don't see any assumptions other than the waiter being trained to ask for IDs. Whether that's the case or not is really irrelevant, because serving someone alcohol who can not provide a government issued photo ID is against the law.

You are assuming he made a scene about not getting his margarita. He never said that and you werent there
Also you dont know what was listed on the menu. Plenty places don't go into enough detail.
And you immediately sided with the hipsters that complained. Again you weren't there and maybe they lied about what they thought they heard

bs

What is the rest of the story? A waiter is not going to just say some crap like that for no reason.

I don't think I ever mentioned him making a scene about the margarita. I said he shouldn't give the kid a hard time about it.

Idk man, I don't recall ever seeing a restaurant menu - especially at a Mexican restaurant - that didn't have the sides listed.

He's admitted more than once in this thread that he and his brother had been using some language.

No I didn't make a scene about the margarita. I could have gone into more detail about everything, but I felt like I was getting long winded so here's some key info I left out:
- About the margarita, I just said "I left my wallet, " to which he responded "Too bad." Then I just asked again for the margarita, to which he gave the rules are rules response
- The millennials fussed at us because my brother said something at work was bs, and then dropped the f bomb, which was a horrible move on his part
- The argument with the waiter was on me, but the kid flat out refused to bring it back to the kitchen. I just said "Son, I'm tired of you being disrespectful. In the hospitality business, you cant act this way, and I can't believe you got a job with this attitude." He then brought it back to the kitchen and the lady went to complain to the bartender about us

I will say this: there is almost never a decent excuse for food to take 30+ minutes at any normal restaurant, much less a Mexican one. And there is absolutely never a decent excuse for food to come out cold. That is unacceptable, period - and if true, you had every right to call attention to it and have it fixed.
