Any chance for snow in south Louisiana?
Posted on 12/18/17 at 9:51 pm to Mac
Very slight chance of snow. It’s much more likely that we will experience epic cold for 48-72 hours straight. “Epic” as in highs in the 20’s and lows in the mid teens.
Comparisons to 1989 are very realistic and not crazy at all.

100 bucks says we don’t have highs in the 20s

That’s a bet the models would take right now.

Not real crazy about that
I like brisk cold, maybe down to 35. Maybe higher but windier. Anything lower just sucks with no redeeming value. And beats up the plants exponentially more. frick below 35 degrees.

I'm always willing to bet as you do, but I also willing to bet that at least once every year or two that we have some really cold air for an extended amount of time. So, this just may be that once in a year or two time. None to worry, typically, it only lasts a few days and we'll be back in to the 60s in no time.
This ain't Minnesota.

Sure when I don’t have a dog in th fight. Deer hunting in that shite sucks. I don’t like it and the deer don’t move. Kids stay cooped up in the house aggravating each other and I burn way too much firewood.
Only bright spot is the wife cooks like a 300lb Black woman when it’s cold. I’ll damn sure eat good

It’s probably been decades since we had highs in the 20s

GFS has warmed up quite a bit this evening. Canadian has us quite cold and GFS still has a pretty cold week next week.
Canadian hints at an ice storm for southwest Louisiana on the 29th. Definitely some winter action next week.

my 1 MAJOR concern is with cold fronts as strong as what the GFS is predicting...
those fronts normally have some kick to them... meaning some pretty severe weather
anyone have an outlook for severe thunderstorms... perhaps even some tornadic?

That’s not even mentioning my livestock. My rye grass looks like shite, calves aren’t up eating when it’s cold, nobody except me gains weight and that don’t make me money

you know from this thread... after all the summer months of sweat and heat and humidity... I'm all about some cold
BUT...
if I'm gonna be THAT cold for THAT long... there BETTER be some visual show attached to it
meaning wintry precip... specifically more snow
esp since here in CenLA the snow from a week ago came while I slept... between 3 & 5:45 AM... I saw it covering the ground but I wanted to see it falling

So do I need to start worrying about driving back to Dallas from La after Christmas?
