so is up to 2 in. of snow really a believable number for CenLA?

why haven't the winter weather advisories gone more south than the currently are?

In Shreveport, that's probably not advisable to drive through.

The slightest ice shuts Shreveport down. A lot of folks don't realize that when you hit town on I-49 it's elevated all the way from Bert Kouns to the I-49/I-20 interchange. Then we have a lot of drainage ditches, bayous, etc. that have bridges that freeze up all in the neighborhoods. Not to mention I-20, TX St., Jimmy Davis and I-220 bridges over the Red River.

Yep. It's gonna be insane tomorrow. People don't know how to drive even during rain, much less ice and snow.

Truth.

Speaking of, it's been sunny all day. Just looked out the window and it's clouding up.

I saw one graphic that had the heaviest estimated totals(2-4") on a line from Carthage, TX to Shreveport to Eldorado, AR towards Memphis.

Found it.

Hey everyone, quick mid-day update for you. As some of you know the models have struggled to predict snowfall amounts (no surprise) across northern Arkansas; with Baxter County reporting 5 inches in some areas! However, just for pure speculation and using our best available high resolution models, we have posted the latest HRRR model here. The model is suggesting one to possibly even four inches across southern Arkansas this evening into the late night hours. This isn't really a shock because we've said all week southern Arkansas has a high chance for a accumulating snowfall. This is really just a free-for-all by now, so we'll just have to set back and let Mother Nature do her thing. Be careful out there tonight and keep sending those photos! We really appreciate it.

It's coming for the BR area too. Don't be fooled. People will be caught off guard during tomorrow's drive home at 5:00. Traffic is going to suck because bridges and overpasses will be freezing over by then. Temps are going to fall to freezing in the afternoon while moisture is still hanging around. If we don't get snow (which there will be flurries mixed in, no doubt), there will certainly be some sleet and some freezing drizzle.

Tonight's newscasts will finally start sounding the alarms and you'll see chaos tomorrow with school closings.

Get ready baws, bitching is coming. Teachers are going to bitch because it'll take a while for school systems to make the call. People will bitch because school systems are closing last-minute and they need people to watch their kids. People will have to stay home and they'll bitch about that but post pics of the "Blizzard of 2018" all over social media. There will be over reactions and under reactions.

Don't say I didn't warn y'all.

LIX ain't biting yet, they seem to expect the BTR/Northshore area to dry out pre snow/ice but the models are continuing to trend toward us getting something. Might have some advisories come morning if the GFS increases moisture and Euro/NAM keep bringing it into the area.

ETA: DFW thinking the HRRR is being too aggressive for the Dallas area. They are fading toward a slightly drier solution.

The drive home will undoubtedly be a shite show (to put it mildly).

Central AL looks in like for a good 1-2" of snow widespread. Maybe more. Birmingham NWS waffling on upping things to a winter storm warning for some areas.

my Weatherbug app was forecasting snow when I looked on Saturday... then backed off to freezing rain yesterday and most of today...

well... just looked at it again... it's back to a 50% chance of snow for central Louisiana

WBRZ doubling down again!

Why do they feel the need to say, and I quote, “stray slick spots” when there’s a chance it could be much worse than that given the freezing temps by ~4:00 PM?

What does that accomplish?

central Louisiana (Alex/Pville) is run by the Lake Charles NWS office correct? or Shreveport?

Same station that said "no sneaux"?

I don't get the ultra conservative approach either. I guess they don't want to induce a panic, but they could at least be realistic.

THIs is a much more responsible warning. It’s not over the top nor conservative. It just states that it doesn’t take much to cause trouble...and even now, we don’t know how much we’ll get.

Even very light accumulation of frozen precip on elevated roads and bridges can have significant travel impact. Thanks to neighboring offices and WPC for discussion and collaboration today on this evolving forecast.
