By the map in the OP it looks to add 1 minute on to someone's commute.

There were 2 wrecks yesterday at this exact location bc of the change.
I think it is inept drivers not the road configuration. Same type of people who drive in the rain with emergency lights on.

They should have fixed Brightside/Nicholson instead.

If it tacks on more than a minute you should be walking it.

You really have no clue about this area do you

Yes but the old configuration insulated us against the ineptitude. We used to have an almost-direct route to campus and could avoid almost all traffic. Not to mention the ability to directly get to highland and thus the interstate. All routes have become longer. Not just to campus.

clearly y'all haven't been around this area recently during high traffic times. Especially with college aged kids driving.
I'm in that area daily. As I said earlier, I've learned that the shortest route may not be the best. This isn't complicated, kids.

It's frustrating that you keep saying that. Just because that can be true doesn't mean that in this case it's true. In this case, the old way was better. Period.

So what happens when everyone decided not go take the shorter route? Or when it's football season, or baseball?

Used to go through about three times a week. Haven't been in about a 10 months. Things must have really changed.
Honestly, if I lived it that area I would be walking to campus every day that I could. I get that not everyone has the same desires though.

I will probably walk. I lived in highland village II last year and walked to school every day. But on rainy days or days on which I will be at school past dark, I will not walk.

I see this as clearing up traffic on Burbank and helping it flow while marginally increasing the commute for a handful of people.
Win for BR traffic.

If people learn how to use the light properly
at this point it's just causing more traffic and accidents. But I do see that side too. I think they should have waited until Parker to Nicholson is completed though.

A little contradictory don't you think?
Posted on 7/9/14 at 6:01 pm to More beer please
Well that will never happen. Ill have to cut through the Mellow parking lot and take the crosswalk at Parker and Burbank. But I think that pedestrian light happens at the same time as the turn signal, so getting hit will still be a possibility since everyone will be using Parker to go left on Burbank now!
it's pretty funny.

No doubt. This trial period is stupid, should have just ripped the band-aid off

I think the only way BR drivers will understand how to treat the intersection like DOTD wants is by making burbank a perpetual green light and putting a stop sign with those divider sticks for right only on Boyd. I'm not even kidding. It's that sad.
ETA or some guy in a penguin suit holding a sign that says "DONT STOP!!!111!1"

Legitimate concern. Had the thread been about this I could have gotten behind it.

Probably should have done this from the beginning.

My roommate just took two minutes of hilarious video at the intersection. Will upload soon.
