The tolls will be set by the private company bidding on the project. They will also oversee the inspection and maintenance upkeep of the bridge. Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with this in the next ten years?
In other words, the State has no money for your bridge, so if you want it, build it yourself.

I would be perfectly happy with a toll bridge in Baton Rouge.

My question is, how much of the approaching highway will be privatized along with the new bridge? Do the feds abandon everything between the two I-210 interchanges, since that would then be a restricted-access highway, or will the public still own all the way up to the base of the bridge?
To me, that makes a big difference in the viability of the toll bridge being able to pay for itself and keep up with maintenance. Anybody know that would work?

NTTA and HCRTA do quite fine in TX.

And those frickers have a loop, too.
Why can't BR have nice things like this?
I imagine Lake Charles has more space for infrastructure expansion. Too many NIMBYs in Baton Rouge.

Also, how in the hell did Louisiana default on a road project? That is costing us matching federal dollars, which is hurting us statewide. Why hasn’t the legislature fixed that problem, and did anyone go to jail? Sounds like somebody should have.

LC has a unique advantage against every other city in La. They can actually build correct infrastructure now without having to rip out old crap. They can legit future proof the area and have it set up for success if allowed too.
