You're right--the poor, homeless people probably won't buy your clothes no matter what store ends up with them.
But the charities funded by the thrift stores may help them in other ways by providing shelter or other assistance in getting back on their feet. The thrift stores sell your Banana Republic clothes to someone who sees a good deal and snags it, then use that money to fund their philanthropic organizations. Some thrift stores have more overhead and pay their CEOs a ridiculous salary while others try to put a higher percentage of their "profits" back into the community.

The shirts are in good shape minus a small stain here or there. I am starting to realize I actually only wear about 5-6 of my go-tos in a rotation and can't really justify the rest just sitting there taking up space. I'd rather somebody have them that will actually wear them. And we get to declutter/free up,space. Win-win.
