Yeah immersion is the only way you'll be fluent. I can speak relevant Spanish to people in my field to communicate relevant information, but I can't really shoot the shite with them

Date someone who speaks mostly Spanish and poor English.

My husband long ago dated a cousin of one of his Mexican friends. Met her one time while he was visiting his friend's family in Mexico(she lived in Mexico and visited the US on occasion). They dated for a few months, him writing her letters in his poor Spanish and her writing him letters in her poor English. Although the relationship failed...he was forced to improve his Spanish and she was forced to improve her English.

Who knows, don't care....that was several years before I even knew he existed. So like 2001-2002.

Women weren't so quick to send nudes back then anyways.

I grew up with Spanish and English speaking Texicans working on the farm, and now we have 3 H2A real deal Mexicans on the payroll. I have to use a lot of hand motions and a few key words, and they pretty much understand what I'm telling them to do.

I'll never learn the whole language, but I think if you can put together some broken Spanish and know words and phrases relative to the industry you're working in, you can make it work in an informal setting.

This. And don't stare at a hot girl while with her. Your day will go to shite. Oh and carry a gun and have dull knives in the kitchen.

I've always heard about Mexicans and other immigrants who have started off watching sesame street and other basic tv shows.
Maybe try the Mexican version of sesame street or other shows meant for little kids.

It's corny as shite and a Friends knockoff but "Extra" on youtube is a good Spanish show to watch to start to hear speakers.
