Looking to drive to Willis (North of Houston) probably next week to pick up my new smoker. With all the construction in Lake Charles, what are the best suggestions to avoid it and make this trip as quick as possible?

I-10 to Beaumont, 69n to 105. 105-I45N. You there

Gotta get around that construction. Not sure exactly what is going on over there, but the quickest route is just gunna be 10 all the way to the beltway in Houston most likely.
Once your past the aforementioned traffic, just google maps it

The stretch from Lake Charles to Beaumont is damn near unavoidable. Made the mistake of trying to go down thru Cameron to go around it once.

Could take 10 west and jump up to 190 over to Livingston and go that way.
Or get up to Hwy 12 and take that to Beaumont, catch 105 north of Beaumont over if you don't want to hit Houston

I've never had a problem. If there is, hop on the feeder road and avoid it. Another reason Texas is light years ahead of Louisiana.

Install the Waze app on your phone...type in your destination and ride it out. If waze says it is the fastest route, you can believe it.

He’s looking for serious responses. Don’t comment if you do not have one

I second the Waze suggestion.
I-10 through Lake Charles/Orange/Beaumont is madness. Avoid it at all costs. Seriously.
Or bring piss jugs for the wait, and risk your life after you get past LC and all the way to Beaumont

Youve never been caught behind a wreck by the border? There isnt a feeder road for the entire portion of road from Sulphur until Orange. Nowhere to avoid it once you get past that point.
Now that stretch of new road on i10 from Vidor to Beaumont where the speed limit jumps up to 75 is nice.

Never in 200+trips over 10 years. Even if I had, I wouldn't avoid it. That would be absurd. If I avoided every road I've waited in a traffic delay in, I'd never leave my house.

Use waze and refresh the route every so often.

I have Waze but find it can be slow to recognize traffic at times. I work in Geisnar but live in Brusly and it has duped me into taking the interstate a few times in the evenings showing no signs of slowdowns the entire way, only to be backed up to the split.
