re: Best phones on the market now?

It might not matter to most but it is a huge plus for me. Not to mention that adding flash memory is cheaper than upgrading to a 64GB iPhone or something.
It annoys me so much that:
1) not all phones accept expandable memory
2) not all phones can act as mass storage devices, rendering the days of carrying a jump drive (or worse, accidentally washing it), useless.

16 on the phone and another 64 on the SD, I can swap that out for 64 more, or swap that out for 64 more, etc.
So my memory options are pretty unlimited.
With microsd, you can fit more media than physically possible for you to consume in a storage area less than the size of a coffee mug.

I will almost undoubtedly be abandoning the Apple mobile platform in about 20 months. It's just so dated and, well, simple to a fault. Swhatever at that time will be a big front runner. I am very impressed with the s4 and Note 3. Samsung is a fantastic device manufacturer.

Yea it's pretty damn awesome. The fact that you can get a 64GB on Amazon or Newegg now for like $32 just makes me scratch my head why people don't demand to have expandable memory options on all of their devices.

think you'll find the transition seamless after the first month or so of getting used to it.
the big thing that was missing from android devices was group text, and now that's been taken care of.

What do you like so much about your Galaxy?

You really have two choices IMO.
Nexus 5
Wait a month or two for Galaxy S5
If you want the best, that is.

I've got a Nexus 7 (original, not 2g). The only problem I really anticipate is the muscle memory of the keyboard. But swipe type (or whatever it is called) really blows pecking away.

At this point, my arguments against them are mainly the variety of peripherals available vs iPhones. It's really not an issue anymore either though. 3.5mm jacks are standard. All the major ones have at least some sort of protective case available. You really just miss out on snug-fitting docks (which I actually am a fan of, dating back to the old Treo 850 cradle with spare battery charger), but it's not that big of a sacrifice.

Does the Nexus have expandable storage?
Posted on 1/28/14 at 5:14 pm to hendersonshands
I just got a droid maxx and really like it. I went for battery life as my main concern and the phone does last a long time. If I'm not on wifi using the internet a lot, my phone's battery will last about 2 days. Internet says it lasts 48 hours.

No, Google hates expandable storage.

Isn't the Droid Maxx a Verizon only phone?

I really think the Note 3 should be in the Top 3 (along with these two). Niche-factor alone puts it pretty much in its own category. People who need a small tablet like a Nexus 7 can do away with it. The phone is large but isn't so cumbersome that it's ridiculous to talk on. The screen is just phenomenal. If I were getting to the point that I was needing a new phone and didn't already own a small tablet, I would've gotten one. Great for traveling if you like to watch movies. Great for business if you use any sort of apps for work at all.

That's disappointing. Could have gone with a 16GB if I could add a micro SD

He's wanting to switch and try out Android for the first time.
I wouldn't recommend a Note 3 for that, but yes I'd have it up there as well, just for more experienced users.

$50 for double the storage really isn't that bad though.

Too bad you didn't do this last weekend. If you are with AT&T last weekend they had the S4 Active for free with a 2 year or upgrade if you were out of contract. It was on the web only. Not sure what they had in store but you could have selected pick up in store.
