A few years ago I ordered a cake from Haydel's for a customer I was working with in Kentucky. It was pretty good and they include a bunch of stuff like a CD of Mardi Gras music and beads.

Apparently there's a Vietnamese that makes a damn good king cake somewhere in East NO I think. My dad's gonna find out and send me one.

Looks like this year Dong Phuong is shipping king cakes for an additional $22.21(fedex overnight) per cake. Only problem is that you can only place the order(5 max) for Mondays and Wednesday according to their calendar.

Cajun pecan house in cutoff

Yep...Cajun Pecan House by a mile, but expect to pay $$$$. Also, the ship only on certain days for freshness. For example they won’t ship late in the week, so it doesn’t get stuck in a warehouse or truck for the weekend.

They use a really light yellow dough and not some left over French bread heavy dough with cinnamon and sugar like some stores.

Also, their pecans are great, but I also like the strawberry.

A close second is Mr. Ronnie’s Donuts.
