So I'm looking to throw together a little fundraiser up here to send some money back home to help with the relief efforts. Is there an organization down there that would put the money to better use than someone like the Red Cross?

Thanks for the help.

My fault. I should have looked closer. There's a lot of information all over the place. Didn't mean to add to the clutter. Just trying to do whatever I can from afar.

And thank you for that.

You can always send it directly to a church too. Many churches such as First United Methodist downtown, Broadmoor Methodist, and St. John's on Highland are opening their doors and are in need of supplies.

A church is a good idea. I was looking at the United Way of Southeast Louisiana as well, but I just want to make sure the money donated is actually used to help people that need it.

I was also thinking about the Capital Animal Alliance. I've been reading that they have had to take in over 100 dogs and are desperately in need of more food/bedding for all of them.
