I'm 20 years old and have been growing one out for awhile. It's been about 2 months since i last used a razor. I've never grown out a full beard because I liked the nice clean look for a long time but wanna change it up. I want to do a nice stubble beard so I've been growing out my hair. The goal is to have all my facial hair connect and then trim it down. So far its been good but its kind blotchy, the right side is thicker than the left but its not too bad, and the mustache hasn't connected with my beard yet. Any tips?

Yah, give it up. If you've gone two months it means you can't grow a beard.

Trim it low and let it fill out. When it becomes thicker or becomes obvious it won't then shave and try again later. Sometimes some areas just grow slower so you need to let it fill in before attempting to grow it out. Sometimes it just takes time before you can grow one. Lastly, some guys just can't grow beards.

If it's blotchy and has gaps in the hair: Shave it.

If you think it would look good trimmed down: Get a Wahl brand trimmer and try the different guard lengths (starting with longest first, and go shorter until you like it.)

Doesn't mean shite. My brother has been able to grow a duck dynasty beard since he was 17-18. My beard comes in looking like shite.

shave your beard is my tip.

It isn't 2011 anymore and every skip, Richard, and John is sporting an ironic beard as well trying to stand out but just blending in.

Not so fast my friend. The traits passed between our two parents can be differing between siblings, depending which traits are passed it can even differ drastically from the parents. Just because you got traits from the same pool doesn't mean you got the same recessive/dominant combinations.

The thing working against you most, is your age. If your brothers and dad can grow full beards then you might be able to at some point. I'm 40 and have a full beard now. I couldn't have grown one at 30. At 20, I could barely grow a goatee.

What about the milkman that kept visiting his Mom when his dad had that travelling job twenty years ago? Does that influence things?
