Seem to be frustrated with Uber's recent price cuts.

I did it for a while for giggles between jobs. It was fun, but I was damn near close to losing money the entire time. No way I'd break even with the new bullshite rates.

Uber is getting shadier and shadier with their drivers.

Brilliant! The stupid mother frickers strike on a day when rates will be X's 5, or more.

That'll show em!

This is going to be a huge fail because I don't think most will strike and if a lot do the rest will just make huge money because there will be surge pricing in place due to a lack of drivers that day. Uber is amazing because it is set up in a way that pays drivers anywhere from 2x-9x what they normally would make if they don't participate in a strike while one is going on and that will make sure a strike is never effective.

2 out of the last 5 ubers I have taken in NOLA have forced us to listen to Arabic music. Taxi drivers are turning into ubers.

Took Uber to and from the Orion ball this past Saturday. Front door to front door service. Best $40 (round trip) ever.

Most of the Uber drivers I had in Chicago were actually taxis. At least some of the companies decided to get with the times and find another way to get riders.

Out of curiousity, do most drivers work several hours at a time, or are they just randomly picking up rides throughout the day? Doesn't seem like there would be enough weekday demand in BR to keep a driver busy.

The price cuts fricking blow. There is no reason to even drive anymore other than above a 3 surge pricing.

And they don't make any sense. Demand is the same as always.

Very frustrating.

But strike worthy? That's just dumb

Most cherry pick their hours for the peak times (Thursday - Sat evening/night)

Unskilled workers on strike - that never backfires.

when Uber started the profit was high enough to get your average guy to be a driver here and there which made the company and the experience great.

The price cuts alienated and drove away all those drivers and your just left with cab drivers and bullshite.

It really sucks.

Well wouldn't the surge price be over 3 this Friday in BR?

Two weeks ago, on a Friday in NOLA, I took a cab from Tulane area to downtown at 530. The surge price was 6.5x. Just on a random Friday with nothing special going on.

I took a ride Sunday AM for a 9 mile ride on the new rates. It took the driver about 10 minutes to get me. Probably about 35 minute process from ride acceptance to drop off. My fare was $13 and change. That has to translate in to next to nothing for the driver.

If a bunch of dumbest Uber drivers strike, that would be the best time to drive as the surge would be great.

You do run the risk of being lured into a scab trap though

No driver's schedule is the same. I work a 8-5 day job and just use Uber for some extra cash on the side. There's little to no demand in the weekday, and the new rate cuts hardly make it worth it. Only real time to make money in BR is during surge hours late night on the weekends.

I deactivated my account or I'd post my fare history.

My average trip was probably around 6 miles. Average fare around $12.
