Baton Rouge Live After 5 - Downtown BR Performing Acts
Posted on 3/23/17 at 9:40 am
Posted on 3/23/17 at 9:40 am
Upcoming acts for the month of April and May include:
Chris LeBlanc Band
Chase Tyler Band
Kristin Diable + Burris
Travis Thibodaux + Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble
AM/FM
Todd O'Neill Band
Hai Karate
Flow Tribe + Shaun Ward Xperience
Genres include:
Rock and Blues, Country, Southern Rock, Americana, Soul Rock-N-Roll, Louisiana Zydeco, Soul and Blues, Cover Band, Alternative, Rock and Pop, Cajun, 70's Horn Driven Funk, Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, Rock, Psychedelic and Blues and Experimental
Some people are very upset with the Downtown Business Association. Why? Because this organization receives $38,000.00 in city-parish tax dollars to help book and promote these type of events and these bands do not represent the majority of people living in the city of Baton Rouge.
That said, how many of you will be in attendance at least once or twice during the months of April and May?

They represent the majority of people who tend to be downtown at 5 on a Friday.

So they want more rap?
There's nothing wrong with those bands

You think lil boosie, kevin gates, or webbie would perform down there? I dont think so.

That and the city could have to spend more money on police presence if Gary had his way

I think the genres that these bands cover is fairly diverse. The only thing that isn't and is upsetting to some, is the color of their skin.

Not that any of his outrage is ever genuine, but it must be exhausting even pretending to be that upset about such trivial shite.
There's no way he's familiar with most of those bands, much less their racial makeup. Imagine the time he spent researching every band they announced and trying to find black people.

I might show up for this one.

No shite. Hai Karate covers a majority of black funk bands.

Well, maybe if more black people worked downtown, they would book more acts for them. Besides, there were majority black acts at Bloom Festival downtown last weekend and will be even more at Flo Fest in a couple weeks. This is much ado about nothing as per usual for our resident race-baiter in chief.
P.S. I would take his "birthplace of White Supremacists" schtik more seriously if this was also HIS birthplace. He's nothing but a carpetbagger racial agitizer, using wedge issues to divide people in order to raise his personal profile for a run for public office.

Do the bands represent the majority of tax payers in the city?

Gary Chambers
What's his background and why didn't we hear about him 5-7 years ago? Is he new to the scene? I saw him featured in 225 magazine a few months ago.

My FGC thread got anchored yesterday. I want to know why
And how about this latest from one of his minions.

Chances are good. I enjoy some good live blues.
