WTF took so long??
Should also file suit against themselves for accepting a fricked up design. Can we file suit for having a racist incompetent lame mayor?

I agree, but their hubris and desire to make a statement led to an extravagant design instead of a cheaper more practical one,
But the board had every reason to rely on their design team and their GC. They had no reason to be there would be flaw like this.

That project could have been fricked up too with the wrong architect.
But would it be structurally unsafe or cost as much as a complete demo, and rebuild?
No
The original library matched its neighbor to the South, but that wasn't good enough I guess. The board had the money and they wanted their own building Downtown pretty bad. That was obvious.
And after building new libraries on Terrace, Jones Creek, in Central, on Goodwood, etc. you would think they could hire a competent architect, right?

shame because road/green light/traffic improvement is sorely needed. Also, a mental health facility would help tremendously. But time and time again, money is wasted, stolen, given to political cronies.
Same here. This administration can kiss my arse because I’ll never vote for a tax under this Mayor. NEVER.

So did I, over on Coursey. They were not real busy.
Btw, they are open today.

But they were sitting on so much money they had to go form over function. You can't just not spend money that the taxpayers keep giving you.

Hold up. WHLC is a good firm, however I can't speak to their JV partner's or the consultanting firms' that (I assume, because they weren't local) S/S chose competency.

from the outside looking in, it seems like a simple solution would be to shore up the cantilever permanently from the ground. It messes up the design but it’s kinda late to be worrying about that

Wow. That is the ugliest building I’ve seen in a long time.

I think the point is why??
Why are we getting an expensive and brand new library?
I've gotten 2 of my 4 EBR property tax bills already, so far I have PERSONALLY paid $916 JUST FOR THE frickING LIBRARIES.
In fact - PARISH LIBRARY -- IS THE HIGHEST frickING CHARGE OF ALL.
Higher than police, higher than any school category, fire, etc.
Do you know what the second highest charge is......
CATS ---- frickING CATS.
The free bus system and the free book system.....
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Not free to those who actually have a job unfortunately.
edit - forgot to mention -- these 2 categories are almost DOUBLE ANY other category.
Almost double...................frick this shite.

I'm happy the property tax bills just came out. I hope that energizes the anti tax crowd. Seeing 32 different taxes on my property tax bill is certainly eye opening.
When they tell you this tax is only fifty dollars a year and you realize how many fifty dollar plus a year taxes there are you have to wonder why.

death by a thousand cuts.
if you can trust your elected officials, non dedicated millages can work because you have flexibility. Because they are all thieves you have to have dedicated taxes for shite you might not want or need. They become money laundering operations

I voted no to both new taxes yesterday. Until I see some fiscal responsibility you can't have any more of my money.

Same here
We pay enough taxes now, it just needs to be divided better.
And the people in charge need to prove they are smart, have our best interest at heart and our dollars get spent wisely.
