Gotcha. Kinda makes sense.

I would just like to point out there are no Catholics in here going off on all the Anti-Catholic vitriol.

Y'all eat meat every Friday during Lent. Seafood is fricking meat.

I'm kind of lost on this one too. So, what other Religious Rules can they just change in Catholicism?
All of them. They have been evolving rules in order to keep their flock since it's inception.

Oh thank God he gave Catholics permission. Otherwise they woulda all gone straight to hell. But it's ok now, he said they could do it. Therefore, no repercussion right?
Just BS. I'm Catholic and yes, I do give up meat on Fridays thru lent. Come this Friday, I will still give up meat.

i fail to see any penitence being served by eating crawfish instead of red meat. especially when most would rather have crawfish anyway

Bow down to your Vatican overlords. Unless something is inconvenient for them. The terms will be changed but, continue bowing.

I've seen this posted a few times here. Is there any logic to this or is it just meant to piss people off?

Is there meat in Guinness?
Why would St Patty's Day have anything to do with eating meat?

Abstaining from meat isn't a matter of faith. It's a discipline, not a matter of doctrine, and can be dispensed. Priestly celibacy is another example; converted Episcopal priests and Eastern rite Catholic priests can be married prior to ordination. Mass can be celebrated in the Tridentine or Novus Ordo form. The St. Patrick's dispensation is a long standing tradition.
Matters of doctrine are immutable. They can't say Jesus didn't really rise from the dead, for example, or that He was the natural son of Joseph and Mary.

Careful. My great uncle was a good person, but he did not care for fish.
He broke down and ate a hamburger one Friday. Died a couple years later and went straight to hell. Very sad.
