Quie possible. Back then with those old thin bias ply tires, it's a wonder there wasn't more casualties caused by the speedo demons.

They look and sound great...performance is on par with a Toyota Camry V6 however.
Pretty much. Things have progressed a bit in 30 years.
Hell, a Chevy Cruze will probably run with a 308.

That and aerodynamics. My W30 had 3.23's so had good top end but I got out of it at 120 as the front was lifting so bad. Steering was just a suggestion.
C2 Vettes are bad for that as well.

For sure.
I rode with a friend from San Antonio to Laredo. Nothing but flat highway. We were in his Pontiac Bonneville, 455 with a 2:56 rear. It had been a test car for Uniroyal.
I knew we were at the point of liftoff cause I could feel the front getting light. I asked him how fast we were going and he said, IDK the needle just stopped a half inch beyond 120.
It was time to slow that thing down.

You still have it? They were a beast. The Buick GS Stage3 as well.

Nope. Got rid of it since I didn't care for driving it anymore. Had it for 25 years. 1970 with an auto unfortunately. Didn't complain much considering what I paid for it. Guy was getting divorced.
I put repop Wide Ovals on it which was a mistake for driving but it sure looked nice. And they actually hooked up amazingly well. Guys are in the 10's on them with stock appearing cars.
Sticking your thumbnail in them was about the same as gum.

Sometimes the best way to get a great deal, unless you are the seller.
Correct me here if I'm mistaken. There was the 442, then Hurst Olds and the W30 was the top of the performance option package?

28K for the 68 vette looked like a good deal.

That was surprising. Hell, I could have bid on that one.

68 had/has its issues but it looked pretty complete. Something there wasn't right.
390HP was the 'base' 427. That kinda hurt its value. No power steering. Those with the BB/4 spd and no power steering can be a hand full to steer, even with that big 16" steering wheel.

Fiberglass gets old..... not purdy or an easy repair.

Yeah they do. Stress cracks are normal around the headlight doors.

Posted on 1/15/20 at 8:09 pm to BuckyCheese
Crazy these Tri-5 T-birds seem to have gone down in value over the last 5years.
