It's strange, as long as you didn't throw a Lambo kit in a Fiero I have no problems with them. Think if done right they are really awesome. Never have thought someone owning one was cheesy.

I wouldnt pull the trigger on one though because I think owning one personally is cheesy.

The irony of your name with this take is not overlooked.

Yeah I understand the why, I just refuse to own a replica of anything...be it cars, watches, furniture, etc

Saying you wouldn't own a replica because it isn't authentic

Yet your name is Restomod, assuming after the restomod market. A practice of inauthentic automobiles.

It's not a knock, like you said each their own.

Huge difference between a modified original factory car and a kit car Billy Ed built in his shed.

My cars are original matching numbers with upgrades to bring it into the modern age (brakes, shocks and fuel).

AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MARK II CONVERTIBLE

Growing up, there was a lady down our street that had one, same color. He tried to buy that car and she wouldn't sell and she never drove it to my knowledge. I think it rotted away in her garage and was eventually hauled off on a flatbed.

Could be. There is a kit that puts C1 bodies on C4 frames. Saw one recently and it looked pretty nice.
Engine was a LS3.

No doubt. I imagine there are more than a few 'flippers' at these shows looking for a something they can turn quick.

Maybe. Could be lack of interest. Was it no reserve?

Curious to see how this 55 F-100 P/U does coming up. They seem to go for a lot of money, even the ones in bad shape.

Ehh...

Those are maintenance nightmares which is much to do with the low resale.

That's the way to do it.

Lots of guys (and a few girls) buy that old car they remember. Then they drive and realize the brakes suck, it handles like crap, and accelerates like a three-legged buffalo going downhill.

Every year, quality recreations are selling for a bit more.

Museum pieces are great, but if you're gonna drive 'em, update them.
