no offense please but this needs to be priority one, immediately. Starve yourself if you have to but if you are in a current pain cycle, there’s nothing you can do to help that will be more effective than lightening the load

None taken at all. I quit the pop and sweets, not only for Lent, but for the amount of calories I was taking in. Thinking about taking Wegovy for up to a year to accelerate the weight loss.

As someone else said weight loss is key in back issue situations. Good luck. I know how hard it is to do regular tasks as well as try to work out etc when the back is not cooperating.

you already know how hard it is to lose weight when you are in constant pain. I would absolutely consider the shot if I were you. If you don’t get that weight off you might find yourself in a situation where…you can’t

best of luck I’m on the back end of a recent ablation which I don’t think worked. I’m going to look into the PT program the therapist posted about earlier

It sure is, and yes I'm going to go ahead and start the injections. I weighed in at 263. At 6'1, I should be at 200 or less. And, very hard to do strenuous exercise with the pain.

Was a car crash for me at age 17. Got hit from behind and hadn’t heard of Gordon yet.
Shame because I had surgery a few years later for herniated disc

When I see these threads, I always wonder what you all are doing for your backs and necks to wind up in such shape.

I'm not sure what led to herniated discs. Maybe running on the pavement for 1,000 miles in my 50s.

My left leg went numb, and I was busy working every day of the week at the animal shelter. Tried to make an appointment to get checked out, but there was a wait of a few weeks.

Went to the emergency room on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. They said I would have to have surgery. I had to wait several months.

I was in the operating room in Shreveport, and they told me I had been bumped for an emergency. Had to go back to New Iberia and wait a few more months.

I have never regained the feeling in my left leg. I walk with a cane.

1 surgery in 1990, L4,5 S1, discectomy and laminectomy, with 2 fractures. I developed traumatic arthritis and associated never issues after roughly 20 years. All treatment provided by USN and VA, including gabapentin prescription around 2008.
I have since weaned off the gabapentin, and use cumin black seed oil instead. I have significantly reduces issues with associated nerve pain after the change. Prior LE work, and from experience, some LE organizations see gabapentin as an indicator of METH use, because it increases and lengthens the effects of the bump for the addict. I try to avoid prescription medications as much as possible

As far as advices, limit pain medication, strengthen your core and maintain ROM, basically, stretch and exercise as much as possible, and limit dependence on prescription medications.

It works for me, but may not be for everyone.
