My son needs a shop on Monday to replace a
Thermostat in a Nissan Xterra. Canal Boulevard Auto Service is not far from where he is staying. Anyone use them? Other recommendations?
He’ll be staying on General Diaz near Delgado.

Check out Mark's, the service station/mechanic business by Jesuit High School. He's been in business at that location for a few decades now and I bring him the things I don't have the tools to fix or equipment to diagnose the problem.
Reasonably priced by my experience and does good work.
He's located on Carrolton Ave. and Banks St. across from Jesuit's Gym. Call him at 488-0618 and get a ballpark price.
ETA: Depending on the vehicles mileage and if the water pump is located behind the timing chain, it may be prudent to change that out too.
Every 4 cylinder foreign car I've had used that engine configuration had the timing chain located in front of the thermostat and it has to come off to replace the thermostat anyway.

Thanks for suggesting he should make the repair himself.
He is flying in Saturday. Borrowing a car his uncle keeps at the airport. Working remotely from his buddy’s place on Monday before leaving Tuesday morning. Doesn’t have time to make that repair himself and won’t have any tools available.
Doing this as a favor to the uncle while he is in town. Just needs a close, reasonable repair shop to where he is staying.

If he’s short on time, he will spend less time buying a socket set and the part than he will shuttling back and forth from the shop.

I haven't talked to Happy in years. Nice guy. Don't know about his business practices because I used to sell him parts, but from what I could tell he seemed like a straight up honest guy.

Just remembered this guy. He comes to your house and does auto repairs just like you need. His name is Emerick Bultman and his number is 318-9233. He lives in Mid-City near Orleans Ave.

Internet shows he, or someone with his name, emailed death threats to his family. I’ll pass.

A good friend of the family runs the above auto repair shop. Damn good mechanic and will fix whatever you need at a good price. The only thing is, its on Airline, close to the airport in Kenner.
