Why would you be “offended” by parents happily paying to have their kids stay at school with trusted faculty for needed aftercare? Parents pay tuition, and I can’t imagine staying an extra hour or so on campus would generate any additional cost that would be offensive to anyone- especially someone who has no affiliation to the school?!

You are being too "open minded". As long as the money is going to the school, it's fine. It's not fine when it's going in employee's personal bank accounts.

The annual trip to DC is Not a school sponsored, nor mandatory trip. Parents pay for the trip and insurance through the travel agency. The Administrator gives his personal time to help give that experience. Whatever travel agency gives him shouldn’t be a school issue?

You have to be a freakin moron to accept a gift like this because of the association with the school at all. Only reason this trip exists is because of the school. This isn’t a friends getting together trip, it’s based around the school. As a government employee that is forced to take this training yearly, he should have known this would lead to termination.

More specifically,

As a business owner, I know the sacrifice it takes to build an asset that makes money. I’m offended, maybe cynically ticked off, that the principals leveraged taxpayer resources to personally enrich themselves, and not the rightful recipient, the school.

It adds up... I think you know this. Probably an extra 20% of the entire opex.

Think LSU just stepped in like big brother, and disagreed with anything that didn’t give them a cut? IMO they have plenty of their own issues to look into.

When my son went on this trip we had to sign paperwork that it was not a school sponsored trip and the school had no liability. It was well known that even though it was a bunch of U-High kids going, it was not a U-High trip

A lot of people were sick about that situation. That story had me depressed all weekend. Feel so horrible for that poor family.

For those that don’t know, a 12 yo boy committed suicide from UHigh last week. Way too young to have been in such a dark place. So incredibly sad.

Now that someone else has mentioned it, wasn't this in relation to the poorly handled incident involving accusations of maga hats, etc that played out on FB? Hope everyone is happy and got their morally assuaging social justice comments in.

Of course you think that. Anything to take the focus off of the real issue at hand. No, LSU is the namesake of that school and they need to protect it. They will get to the bottom of this. Hopefully heads will roll.

No, don't think you are talking about the same thing. This is a little boy that was local here in BR.

UHigh doesn’t receive any additional state funds? Should be a non issue to those who don’t pay tution? Are we to be offended by paying to have a babysitter at a city park or library because it’s deemed public property?

What if it turns out that the principals had all these things cleared by their superiors at LSU and followed instructions of the director of the school and the dean of the college of education?

Directly from the U-High website:
quote:

State Funding

Under the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP), the Louisiana legislature annually adopts a formula to equitably allocate funding for education to school districts as a block grant. University Laboratory School receives an allocation per enrolled student as part of this annual state funding mechanism in addition to the $4881.03 per student in tuition.

why the heck would they be under a state audit? I honestly thought they did and stand corrected on my points if they don’t. Let’s get this straight.
