Only because Chicago is allowed to add in many of the counties in Chicago suburbs. Thus those suburbs save their numbers. St.Louis is only 1 of 3 cities not part of a County, if they were part of St.Louis County, they would become 8th largest city, and drop into the 25-30 spot in crimes per capita. And they wouldn't include East St.Louis,Brooklyn, etc into their numbers anymore. Those cities are in Illinois for fricks sake.
This makes no fricking sense and is not correct.

There’s a correlation between rise in ice cream sales and murders in Chicago.
(I forgot which college course made light of that one)

Everything is correct
In the FBI crime stats, Chicago and their suburbs are all counted as 1.
In St.Louis, because it is not part of a County, only st.louis city in included, along with East st.louis, Venice, brooklyn. All Illinois Cities.
Those are the facts tardling.

There's a lot of fried chicken establishments in that area.

First off, people are quoting city stats which are easy to find without going to the FBI site.
St. Louis had 186 murders and 302k people. Chicago had 562 murders and 2.7 million people. Do the math.
Both cities have a bunch of safe suburbs
