Bad news. They wrote the law in LA such that if the debris touches the roadway it becomes a “road hazard” and the truck company isn’t liable. fricking insane. It has to fly off the truck and hit your car before the roadway for them to bear liability.
Got a law reference for this?

Maybe
Right after katrina a dump truck broke my windshield on twinspans. I called number and told them I was a lawyer and would go after them. I sent them the $400 bill and they sent me a check.

About the only thing I like about being a lawyer.
Told one insurance company that I would cost them more money in legal fees, time, and court costs 10x what the claim was worth if they didn’t do what was right and fair for a personal loss of mine and since I was a lawyer, I didn’t have to pay one to do it. Told them a man in a black robe is going to have to tell me what was going to happen and not them.
I paid State Farm for years without claims and they were gonna deny me over a very small, fair and reasonable claim. I was pissed and ready to go to war.
They settled for what I wanted but I had to keep going up the chain to finally talk to a decision maker.

The data centers and Space X money will give us some nice clean highways. Lane widening on I-12 and the I-55/I-12 interchange will be made safer. That is what I have been told.

I"ve had decent luck with "let's talk to DOTD about an unsecured load"

Plot twist. The guy on the other end was authorized to offer you double, and after you hung up he told his boss about the dummy attorney he just screwed.
