So far, I’ve decided to not contact them. I guess I’m concerned about exposing some family secrets and hurting feelings. I would welcome the DNA new relatives contacting me, but for now, I’m going to leave it up to them.

As an adoptee, connecting with DNA relatives likely means more to me than the other parties since they already know their relatives and family history. The relatives in the DNA database see that I’m a match as a close relative, so their silence may be a sign of lack of interest. Who knows, I might change my mind and reach out to them one day.if your friend does reach out, he/she needs to be prepared for what may not be a Hallmark card happy ending although it could be great for all involved.

Make contact. If they want money, tell them to go fornicate with themselves. If they are an OT baller offering you free access to their pool, bar, wife, and beach house then congrats on your new best friend.
