As a woman - no I would not be okay with the woman proposing instead of the man. Even today there still needs to be some chivalry and a man taking the lead.

about 26 years ago my GF began asking. She asked about 5 times. I always told her that when it was time, I would ask.
We were in Hobart, Tasmania and I guess the devil made me do it but I finally asked.
Good luck.

What would said proposal look like?
Would it be a public proposal where she presents me with a man ring? Would it be a public proposal where she presents her own ring?
Would she just ask me one day if I'd marry her?
Need more deets before I can decide how I feel about this.

isnt the only reason any guy finally gets married cause the woman says we are getting married or im leaving.
Even if that were true (it’s not

She may have initiated the idea (however that happened), but he should set the tone of leadership in the household by asking her into the union.

If I wanted to marry her in the first place, sure, why not? Who knows, she may take her vows more seriously that way.

my wife's hairdresser proposed to her husband. She wears the pants though. And just came home from work one day and said - we are getting married. He said ok. Then bought her a ring.
Dude is a bit odd. He took 10 hits of LSD, didn't tell his wife and then came to a party at our house. He didn't know anyone besides me, my wife and his wife. Hilarity ensued.
He also bought a case of cans of generic sparkling water, which I also found odd.

Women already propose to men. It's usually in the form of an ultimatum.

Nah.
I'm relatively progressive and all but this doesn't sit well with me.

wondering if we have the same fb friends... or if you're him. This recently happened to an guy I know. She made a big public post about it with an artsy sign that said "he said yes".... I would be embarrassed as hell

Women usually bring it up and give you an ultimatum.

To all you baws saying, “yeah, why not”....here’s a thought experiment for you:
Imagine you have a daughter, and she’s dating some dude that is so passive and completely indifferent towards having a future with your daughter that instead of pursuing her, he just sits around waiting for her to ask him...
Is that the guy who you want as a son-in-law? Is that the guy who you want to be the father of your grandkids?

This is the one time I want the facebook link so I can laugh my arse off at this guy.
Guy is no man at all if this happened imo and relationship is doomed.

I proposed to my current husband on Sadie Hawkins day. Married 38 years this year.
