Oh wow. Straight to Korea.

It was my enlistment option. My career counseler at MEPS told me it was an awesome duty station and I was lucky to get the option.

Never made it out that way.

Are you SURE that OSUT for infantry was more difficult back then? One thing's for sure, it was eight weeks shorter back then.

Eight extra weeks of being in the training unit seems like "harder" to me. As you know, being in a training unit is usually unpleasant.

They're doing a week of first aid and a week of vehicle familiarization. It won't be harder.

In reality they are extending the crawl part of crawl-walk-run, because too many are showing up fat and so far out of shape that the normal amount of time isn't sufficient.

As was said - they will find a way to frick this up. Guaranteed.

AR 350-1 essentially proscribes all the mandatory training that needs to be accomplished. An accounting was done of it long ago and they found that the mandatory training (shite that include Summer Water Safety briefings) exceeded the number of duty hours in a year. This doesn't include field exercises, various other commitments, deployment training, and so on. It assures the Army that people (commanders) are submitting false reports. The situation has only gotten worse.

The Army’s approach to manpower and training is to check the box. Whether or not anything was improved in the process of checking that box is irrelevant.

Sand Hill c/o 2002 checking in. And honestly, for a while at the end it got kind of fun, then the end sucked so I couldn't imagine 22 weeks.

The cool kids went to Relaxin Jackson.

I'll be honest....those nine weeks of BCT at Jackson were the most stress-free weeks I had had for quite a few years at 26.

Then I went to Fort Benning School for Boys.

I was at Ft. McClellan for 19 straight weeks in the same bay with the same Drill Sergeants.

14 weeks would’ve been a blessing.

I went to benning and stayed at reception bc somehow there were too many recruits and not enough drill sgt’s

Those two weeks were tougher than my whole bct experience at relaxin Jackson.

Doing field training twice at camp bullis during the summer to become a medic was awesome

Not when you're a 09S showing up for OCS. Rolling through there with my sham shield of power was awesome.
