I always liked the WWII style Army uniforms. Wish we’d have had those in my day instead of the green class-A uniform.

I don't see the appeal, but I'm a Marine, so I really have never liked the Army's uniforms compared to ours. Our service Alphas are sexy and everyone loves the blues. I found it funny when the Army had their "blues" and soldiers thought they were similar, yet they weren't close

In the late 19th century the Army dress uniform was very much inspired by the Germans.

Those are the German uniforms from the 1940s. The American uniforms that were styled after the Germans date from the 1890s. Here is an example of a German/Prussian dress uniform from around the late 19th century.

These are actually Prussian uniforms, which was the precursor to the German Empire which was declared in 1871.

You talking about the ASU? Never heard anyone compare it favorably to the Marine blues. Everyone I knew thought they were hideous and looked like something a French customs agent would wear.
