We have Ragan's Star Wars weapons. No problem at all to take it out.

I actually don't know on this one. All nasa equipment is over engineered crap. I imagine the astronauts are of a similar type. Some of the most brilliant people are utter idiots outside of their area of comfort.
I agree, it's not like they were training the oilfield crew to fly the spaceships...it certainly seems easier to train a person to do his regular job in different conditions than to train a different (smarter) person to do an entirely different job.

Their reasoning was they had to have drillers that could adapt to the sudden changes of pressure and other drilling parameters. They were more sure of getting the crew there and back. So it does make sense to train the drillers as if you just trained astronauts how to drill they still wouldn't be ready to make sudden decisions on the fly while drilling. At least not as well as Willis and co. But having astronauts there to hold there hands was possible. And the most feasible

Bruce Willis isn't really a world-class driller, so... We fricked.
Bruce Willis isn't real, that was a movie jack-arse.

I mean how hard is it to be an astronaut anyway?
They were just passengers on a flight. Makes sense the way it went down.

There is nothing constructive about this criticism. How about some real pointers or at least highlight some weak spots bro? We're all in this together, one weak poster brings us all down.
